ตาข่ายเสริมกำลังดิน ได้ถูกนำมาใช้ในการเสริมกำลังของดิวัสดุในการก่อสร้างอื่นๆ ช่วยในการก่อสร้างบนดินอ่อน เสริมในโครงสร้างชั้นทางของถนน

ตาข่ายเสริมกำลังดิน ช่วยเพิ่มความสามารถในการรับแรงเฉือนในดินอ่อน ทำให้ดินมีเสถียรภาพมากขึ้น อีกทั้งยังช่วยในด้านการเพิ่มความสามารถในการรับแรงของดิน  ดังนั้น Geogrid จึงถูกนำมาใช้ในงานโครงสร้างต่างๆเช่น โครงสร้างเขื่อน, พื้นที่ลาดชัน, ชั้นฐานราก ,คลอง

ความสามารถรับแรงของ Geogrid (nonwoven, woven)อยู่ได้ในช่วง 30 ถึง 600 Kn/m, ขึ้นอยู่กับความต้องการและการออกแบบ

การผลิตจากการประสานเส้นวัสดุจำพวก Polymer ให้เป็นแผ่นตารางขนาดต่างโดยช่องว่างของแผ่นมีขนาดใหญ่และเส้นวัสดุที่นำมาประสานนั้นใหญ่กว่าเส้นใย Geotextile มาก ซึ่งการประสานเส้นอาจทำโดยการถักทอหรือเทคนิดอื่นๆคุณประโยชน์หลักคือ เสริมแรงหรือเสริมความคงตัว Reinforcement เกือบทั้งหมด ทั้งนี้การยืดตัวในระยะยาวจะต่ำกว่า Geotextile และสามารถผลิตให้มีแรงดึงสูง
